    Bible verses about love.

In the Bible, love is a central theme that reflects God’s nature and His relationship with humanity. Here are five Bible verses that highlight what love means to God:

Definition of Love in the Bible

Love in the Bible is often described as selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. It is the essence of God’s character and the foundation of His commandments. God’s love is not just an emotion but an action that demonstrates His commitment to us.

    Bible Verses on Love

    • 1 John 4:8 - “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

This verse emphasizes that love is intrinsic to God’s nature. To know God is to know love.

    • John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

This verse illustrates the sacrificial nature of God’s love, showing that He gave His Son for our salvation.

    • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

These verses describe the qualities of love, highlighting its selfless and enduring nature.

    • Romans 5:8 - “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This verse shows that God’s love is unconditional and given freely, even when we are undeserving.

    • 1 John 4:19 - “We love because he first loved us.”

This verse reminds us that our ability to love comes from God’s love for us. His love is the source and inspiration for our love.

These verses collectively show that love, according to the Bible, is an essential aspect of God’s character and His relationship with us. It is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional, calling us to love others in the same way.
