Rest

Bible verses about rest.

In the fast-paced world we live in, rest seems like a rare commodity. Dealing with work, relationships, and other day-to-day stresses can leave us feeling overwhelmed, drained, and exhausted. If you're looking for a way to find true rest and peace, then turning to the Bible is the best place to start. God's Word is filled with promises and guidance on finding rest in Him. Let's take a look at 10 bible verses about finding and having rest.

Matthew 11:28 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." This verse speaks to the invitation that Jesus gives us to come to Him when we feel overwhelmed. He promises to give us rest and take our burdens away.

Psalm 23:1-2 - "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters." The imagery of our Shepherd leading us to restful pastures is comforting and reassuring. God provides for us and gives us the rest we need.

Matthew 6:31-33 - "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This verse reminds us to focus on God's provision and not worry about the things of this world. Trusting in Him brings true rest.

Psalm 4:8 - "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." This verse reminds us that we can have peace and safety when we rest in God's protection. We can sleep soundly knowing that He is watching over us.

Mark 6:31 - "Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.' " Even Jesus recognized the need for rest and took His disciples away to a quiet place. We need to follow His example and take time to rest.

Psalm 62:5 - "Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him." This verse reminds us that our hope and rest come from God alone. When we place our trust in Him, we can find peace and rest in any situation.

Hebrews 4:9-11 - "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience." This verse encourages us to enter into God's rest and trust in Him rather than trying to do everything on our own.

Psalm 116:7 - "Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you." When we feel anxious and troubled, we can remind ourselves to return to God's rest. He has been good to us and will continue to provide for us.

Isaiah 30:15 - "This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.'" This verse reminds us that true strength and salvation come from resting in God's love and forgiveness. We can find rest in the knowledge that He is in control.

Philippians 4:6-7 - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." When we bring our worries and concerns to God in prayer, we can experience His peace which goes beyond our understanding.

Finding true rest in God's Word requires trust, patience, and a willingness to let go and let God take over. These ten bible verses remind us that God is our provider, our protector, and our comforter. When we seek His kingdom first, the things we need will be given to us, and we can have peace in the midst of chaos. May we all find true rest in God's loving arms.
