Deception

Bible verses about deception.

In the Bible, deception is consistently portrayed as contrary to God’s nature and His desire for truthfulness and integrity among His people.

    • This verse highlights that God detests deceit and values honesty.

  2. Jeremiah 9:6: “Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the Lord.”

    • Here, God expresses how deceit separates people from Him, emphasizing the importance of truth in maintaining a relationship with God.

  3. Colossians 2:8: “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”

    • This verse warns against being misled by deceptive teachings and stresses the importance of adhering to Christ’s teachings.

  4. 2 Corinthians 11:14: “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

    • This verse reveals that deception can come in forms that appear good or righteous, urging believers to be discerning.

  5. 1 John 1:8: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

    • This verse underscores the self-deception involved in denying one’s sinfulness and the necessity of acknowledging the truth to align with God.
