Bible verses about following God.


These following verses highlight the importance of obedience, trust, commitment, and following the example set by Jesus. Following God means living a life that aligns with His will, seeking His guidance, and trusting in His plan.


Deuteronomy 13:4:

“It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.”

  • This verse emphasizes the importance of revering, obeying, and serving God wholeheartedly.


    Matthew 16:24:

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’”

  • Jesus calls for self-denial and commitment in following Him.


    John 8:12:

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

  • Following Jesus brings spiritual enlightenment and guidance.


    Psalm 119:105:

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

  • God’s word provides direction and clarity for those who follow Him.


    1 Peter 2:21:

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”

  • Believers are called to follow Christ’s example, even in suffering.


    Joshua 24:15:

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

  • A declaration of commitment to follow and serve God.


    Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

  • Trusting and submitting to God leads to a clear and righteous path.


    Luke 9:23:

“Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’”

  • Daily commitment and self-denial are essential in following Jesus.
