Bible verses about how our God loves us.
God is love, and there is no better way to understand this than to dive into the Bible. Through its pages, we discover just how much our God loves us and how eager He is for us to experience that love. In this blog post, we will look at ten Bible verses that speak about God’s love for us.
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This is undoubtedly one of the most well-known verses in the Bible, and it eloquently communicates the depth of God’s love for us.
Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” It is stunning to think that God would send His son to die for us, while we were still lost in our sin.
1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” This verse reminds us that our love for others is only possible through the work of God in us, as He is the source of all love.
Psalm 86:15: “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Here we see God’s character highlighted, and it is comforting to know that our God is both compassionate and faithful.
Jeremiah 31:3: “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’” God’s love for us is constant, and we can find assurance in the fact that we are loved with an eternal love.
Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” This verse reminds us that God takes great pleasure in us and rejoices over us with singing!
Ephesians 2:4-5: “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” God’s love is the foundation of our redemption and salvation.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…” This often-quoted list of attributes of love serves as a reminder of God’s perfect, unchanging love for us.
Isaiah 54:10: “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” This verse can bring us tremendous comfort in times of trouble, as it reminds us of the steadfast nature of God’s love.
1 John 3:1: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” As believers in Christ, we have the privilege of being called children of God, and we can rest in the knowledge that we are deeply loved by our Heavenly Father.
These ten Bible verses remind us of just how much God loves us. His love is deep, wide, and without limit. Even when we were in our sin, He sent His Son to die for us so that we could be reconciled to Him. As we meditate on these verses, let us be reminded of the amazing love that we have received, and let us love others with the same love that God has shown to us.
